This Indian Rosewood Classical
Guitar was 100% hand made from start to finish by one of our craftsmen, a
third generation master luthier with 25 years of building experience. This is
a new, unused, full size guitar. Retail price:
USD 1250. Retail value is for
sure much more.
This Guitar measures 990 mm in overall length, the Body is 485 mm long, the
Upper Bout is 284 mm wide, the Lower Bout is 374 mm wide, depth of the Body at
the shoulder is 97 mm, and depth at the base is 107 mm. The Scale is 650 mm.
The Fret positions were calculated with the method used by John Gilbert to
correct the tension and length added to the Strings when pressing them against
the Fretboard. This means that all Frets have a perfect intonation, not only
the Nut and the 12th Fret as in most guitars. A 2 mm compensation at the
Saddle for the 3rd String is included.
The two-piece beautifully grained solid book matched AAA grade Western Red
Cedar (Thuja Plicata) Top is from our provider in Canada. The buyer may
choose to change the Guitar for one with an Engelmann Spruce Top if desired.
There are black/cream/black Purflings inlaid around the Top's outer edge, and
Algarrobo wood (Carob tree) Bindings. The inlaid Rosette is hand made in
Argentina. The book matched Back and Sides are made of AAA grade solid East
Indian Rosewood, aged for more than four years. There are cream colored wooden Purflings framing the Indian Rosewood Back and Sides sections. The Heel Cap is
made of Indian Rosewood.
The Neck and Headstock are made of red Spanish Cedar. The Headplate and the
Bridge are made of beautifully grained Indian Rosewood. It has a hand carved
Bone Saddle, and an End Cap framed with Bone. The Nut is also made of Bone.
The Neck Reinforcement is Brown Ebony.
The Fretboard is AAA grade black Gabon Ebony, kiln dried and aged by our
provider in Europe. The Ebony shows it's natural color, it is not stained. The
19 Frets are Nickel-Silver, and the ends of the Frets are polished. Width at
the Nut is 52 mm, and Width at the 12th Fret is 62 mm. Thickness at the Nut is
22 mm, and thickness at the 9th Fret is 24 mm. The Action at the 12th Fret is
3.2 mm at the 1E String and 3.4 mm at the 6E String measured from the top of
the Fret to the bottom of the Strings. Action can be lowered further at Buyers
request. The guitar was carefully set up by our luthier for no buzzing, and
comfortable action.
There are two options for Machine Heads: Schaller Hauser Standard bronce
plated with gunmetal black worm wheels and cream buttons, or Dutch made gold
plated with gunmetal black worm wheels and pearloid buttons.
The internal bracing pattern is in the Torres style. The Bracings are made of
Cedar and Spruce.
The Label is signed by Gustavo Arias and by the luthier who built the guitar.
The Nitrocellulose Lacquer reveals the beautiful grains and natural tones of
the wood on the Back, Sides, and Top.
All parts of the guitar were assembled at between 40% to 50% relative
humidity, and bonded with highest grade Hot Hide Glue from our provider in
Argentina.
All the wood is 100% legal harvest from our providers in the United States,
Canada, and Paraguay.
This new guitar plays beautifully, with perfect intonation throughout the
fretboard, and with great volume, projection, and sustain. It has a full tone,
